anyway, i'm kinda sad i didn't get to take a road trip at all this past summer. it's always nice to hit the open road with some friends and come back with new shared experiences and inside jokes. but my schedule is pretty flexible, so maybe i'll take that trip anyway. i was thinking mcallen, texas...

i know there is no bailout plan agreed upon yet, but i am announcing that as of today i am no longer suspending my blog.

so how do i just start up again after such a long hiatus? do i need to fill you all in on what's been going on in my life? do i need to explain why i've been away for so long? i feel like i need some sort of reintroduction here.

well, in case you haven't heard, stay away from the tap water in downey.

so i was sitting at the counter at my mom's restaurant eating lunch, when that story came up on the local news. the guys sitting a few seats down from me says, "did he say downey? i live in downey!"

to which i replied, "well, better stay away from the tap water."

he then turns to me, points at the logo on his shirt that says culligan, and says, "i don't have to worry about that."

then...i swear...the culligan man struts right out the restaurant. he strutted baby, cuz that's how he does it. culligan straight up filtrates that nasty h20.

Dear Friends in Christ,

We finished with the English Camp yesterday and it was an amazing time. The Gospel was raised high in both the lives of the believers here as well as in their love for the Czech people. Many of the campers heard the truth and have expressed great interest in learning more.

We had a joyful time today at the Kladno and Usti churches, as well as fun time hanging out with some of the campers who came and visited. We were all sad that the English Camp is over, but we are excited to spend the next week following-up with some of the students. Please pray for this time, that we would exhibit Christlike love and boldness. Please also pray that we would encourage the believers here (especially the Smiths) and that we would help build bridges between the people from the camp and the churches.

We also have prayer requests for some specific people.

Lucka, Roy, Eva and Radek have all made recent professions of faith in Christ. They have come a long way since last summer and we are amazed by the changes we see. However, please pray that their faith would be tested as genuine and that their hearts would prove to be good soil that bears much fruit. Pray that we would have several opportunities to encourage them in their young faith.

Daniel, Marketa and Martin are all actively seeking the truth. We will continue to have opportunities with Daniel and Marketa. Please pray that they would be diligent in searching the Scriptures and that we would make the most of our time with them.

Vladimir, Hana, Ondra, Pavel, Daniel B., Mirka all have an interest and an openness toward spiritual things. Please pray that the Lord will continue to work in their hearts, starting with a deep conviction of their sins which would lead them to be desperate for Christ. Please also pray for more opportunities with them to share Christ.

Martina, Pavla, Alzbeta, Antonin, Milosh, Vaclava are all professing Christians from other Czech churches, though we are unsure that they are true believers. However, they have all expressed greater interest in growing in their faith and knowledge. We will have more opportunities to speak with them, so please pray for discernment on our part in encouraging them to trust in Christ.

And there are the many others that we will be seeing though we are unsure of their spiritual interest or they have expressed little to no interest. However, they have a desire to spend time with the team so we will have more opportunities with them as well. Please pray that the Lord will use our time together to point them to Christ.

So as you can see, there is much to pray for and much ministry to do. The team is doing great and the Smiths have been such a great encouragement. We are learning a great deal and are praying that these things will continue to impact us when we return.

Hey All!

We have just finished our first full day here and we are excited to start English Camp tomorrow! Our day was spend preparing and getting to know members of the other teams and Czech churches.

Please pray for the English Camp! Here are some specific prayer requests:

1. Please pray for the atmosphere of the camp, that it would be warm and loving. Pray that every believer here will set the tone and love everyone selflessly.

2. Please pray for the logistics of the camp. Pray that we would run it excellently from the English instruction to the games. Pray that for our energy level and that we would be able to keep it up for the 8 days of camp.

3. Please pray for the Czech believers at the camp. Pray that they would not only be encouraged by our teams, but that they would be active in seeking the lost. Please pray that we would effectively serve as bridges between Czech believers and unbelievers.

4. Please pray for the evening messages, that they would be clear and cogent and that they would be actively listened to by the campers. While we cannot guarantee that our message will not be offensive, please pray that we ourselves would not give offense to any person. Please pray for sensitivity on the part of the speakers as well as the other team members, seeking to listen and engage the Czech atheists and agnostics.

5. Please pray for the relationships that will form over the week. Pray that we will make real friendships as well as develop existing ones. Pray that we would, gradually over the week, earn the trust and love of the campers and that we will have open and listening hearts for the gospel.

6. Please pray that we will have many follow-up opportunities after the camp. Pray that our time will be so busy that we will realize that the harvest is indeed plentiful here and that when we leave will having the impression that more workers are needed here.

so yes, we're leaving tomorrow. and no, it's not top secret when and where.

and also, here are the team's prayer requests. please be praying for us. if i get the time i wanted to write a post but i may not get the chance. but again, please please pray for us. thanks!

Czech Team prayer requests

Jeena Lim
1. To prepare excellently and joyfully, thinking of God's glory all the way.
2. To die to self and serve wholeheartedly-before, during, and after the trip.
3. That the Lord would use this experience to reveal many sins to me, to grow me in maturity and wisdom.

Jimmy and Sharon Chung
1. Thank the Lord for the gospel. For without it we lost sheep without
any hope. Thank Him for the privilege we have in going to a country
that has a heart hardened toward the gospel.
2. To glorify the Lord by enjoying in Him as we share the gospel to
unbelievers. Please pray for much boldness, humility, and grace and
that we would not add anything to the gospel but preach it faithfully
and accurately as the Bible teaches it.
3. That we would be an encouragement to the local Czech believers
there and the Smith's family.
4. For team's physical strength to minister and build relationships
with the Czech people, especially during the 7-day camp.
5. For our marriage to be strengthened and enriched in Christ through
this opportunity. That before preaching the gospel to unbelievers we
would preach to our own hearts first.

Eugene Kim
1. Please pray for my walk with Christ. Going to Czech is much more than physical or intellectual labor. It requires me to be in spiritual shape so that I am serving and loving others out of the overflow of a Spirit-filled life rather than duty or discipline.
2. Please pray that I would be an encouragement to the Smiths and the Czech churches, as well as to our team and the other U.S. teams. Pray that I would humbly and lovingly serve them.
3. Please pray for my relationships with the campers. Pray that our friendships would grow and that I would have no lack of opportunities to share the gospel with them.
4. Please pray that my preparations for the trip will go well and that I will be diligent. Please also pray that the camp will go great and be profitable to all.
5. Please pray for my preparation with work before I leave. Please pray that my business will run smoothly while I'm gone.

Adam and Susie Bakonis
1. Unity - with the CBC team, the other teams, and the Czech church. That we would faithfully love and serve one another with Christlikenss and thereby exalt the Lord and His gospel.
2. Diligence - before and during the trip. That we would prepare well spiritually (through Word and prayer) and practically. That, even when we are tired, we would joyfully serve and look for ways to serve the teams, the church, and the Czech people.
3. Gospel-centered - that we would consider that all we say and do will reflect upon the gospel and that we would look for and create opportunities to share gospel truths.
4. Faith - in the power of the gospel to save, rather than dependence on ourselves.

Bok Lee
1. For the salvation of my parents and that I would adorn the doctrine of God as Titus 2:9-10 says: "Urge bondslaves to be subject to their own masters in everything, to be well-pleasing, not argumentative, not pilfering, but showing all good faith so that they will adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in every respect."
2. Please pray for boldness at work in proclaiming the gospel through word and deed. Please pray for perseverance in evangelism and that I would not be discouraged by a lack of response or discouraging responses.
3. Please pray that I would be like the righteous man in Psalm 1 who delights in the law of the Lord and on his law I would meditate day and night. That I would be like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither.
4. Please pray for the Czech Team as we leave in a couple weeks. Please pray that we would love and serve one another and that our love for one another would reflect the love of Christ and draw unbelievers to Him. Please pray that the love of Christ would be the only thing that compels me to reach out to the people I will meet and that I would make the most of the opportunities for boldly but lovingly proclaiming Christ during the short time we are there.

Peter Ahn
1. Please pray for much humility. Pray that every ounce of my desire would be that God be glorified and that there would be no hidden motivations for my pride, but all praise would go to Him. Pray that I would follow the call of Christ and to die to self.
2. Please pray for my time spent in prayer. Not knowing what to expect, please pray that I would not be anxious but that I would prayerfully come before Him and put full dependence and trust in God. Pray that I would be disciplined in prayer and that I would spend much time in fellowship with God and to know Him more intimately through prayer.
3. Pray that God would use this summer to grow me and to teach me more regarding Himself.
4. Pray that I would be an encouragement to the Czech churches and to our team. Please pray that I would lovingly and joyfully serve and that I would be used for whatever purposes and for whatever needs there may be, at the same time, not doing these things out of the flesh.

hey all, so quick update: i'm leaving next wednesday for czech and as some of you know, i've been working on getting frostbites running in my mom's restaurant in cerritos. i've been training employees all week but they need some more practice. a lot more practice.

so that's where you come in. friday 6-9pm, 1/2 price to you. i'm not looking to spread the word yet, but just need people so my employees can train serving people, talking about the product, ringing up on the register, etc. so i need people, my friends, that they can mess up on too. not looking to do any big promoting till it's running how i want, which probably won't be till i get back from czech.
